Tasty Italian Food You Should Eat

Italian foods are one of the world most talk about food. Is it really one of the best or is it just hyped? It is not hyped because millions of people go to Italian every year to satisfy their hunger.  Italian foods are very simple to prepare, and Italians use the best fresh ingredients they can find.


Here are some popular Italian foods that you should eat the next time you go to an Italian restaurant.

Prosciutto





Prosciutto means ham in Italian. It is a special food that takes almost three years to prepare depending on the patient of the cook. There are two variety of prosciutto, they are the cotto which means cook, according to the Italian and cruddo which means uncooked according to the Americans.

Prosciutto cruddo is often eaten just that way it is or it is wrapped around a bread stick (grissino) or just a slice or two place of a fresh white bread. The most famous are the Italian made prosciutto di parma and prosciutto di San Danielle.

Ravioli

Ravioli is a traditional food in Italian cuisine, in Italy ravioli is called “raviolo” which means singular. It is a type of dumping composed of a filling sealed between two layers of thin pasta dough. It is usually served either in a broth or with a pasta sauce.

In Italy ravioli means to stuff, ravioli are boiled and served with rich sauce.
Ravioli are squared in shape, other shapes include circular and semi - circular, and there is the ring shape tortellini and the large tortelloni.

Ravioli are made from flour, eggs and water.


Tiramisu

Tiramisu is a popular Italian desert which means “pick me up or lift me up”. It is used is marking special occasion. It is made by combining lady finger biscuits espresso, eggs, sugar, mascarpone cheese, flavoured cocoa.

There are a number of variation available, there is the chocolate tiramisu which the place of coffee. There is also the fruit tiramisu where fruits like peaches,
 berries, and apricot are added. There is also the frozen tiramisu like the gelato, frozen yogurt.

Gelato

Gelato means frozen, it is an Italian word for ice cream, it derives its name from the Latin word gelatus. It is a type of ice cream that contain small amount of air.

Gelato can be made with cream milk and various sugar and favours such as fruits and nut purees. Gelato is healthier than the American ice cream because it is made of natural ingredients and contains fewer calories and less butter fat.

Carbonara pasta

Carbonara pasta is an Italian pasta dish that is based on egg, cheese, bacon and black pepper. Spaghetti is usually used as the pasta.
